Srila Prabhupada
His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is the founder Acharya of ISKCON. Born as Abhay Charan De, to Gour Mohan De and Rajani De on 1st September 1896 in Calcutta is fondly known as Srila Prabhupada. He traveled the world to spread and nourish the roots of Krishna consciousness.
In 1965, at the age of 70, left his native India for the first time, with a mission to introduce to the Western world, the science and art of ‘Bhakti-Yoga’ based on the teachings of Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. Over the next 12 years he traveled the globe tirelessly, speaking & chanting Krishna’s names extensively. He wrote over 70 books (translated into 60 languages) painstakingly to broadcast the Vedic culture and joy of devotion to Sri Krishna.
He was a pure devotee of Lord Krishna and a bona fide spiritual master in the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya. He translated into English three major texts, Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagvatam and Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita that contain the essence of Vedic knowledge.
